Guided technical applications with specific emphasis on the market leading HFSS 3D electromagnetic field solver. Directed strategic customer programs and applications especially RF/analog/mixed-signal circuit simulation coupled with electromagnetics.
* Developed programs with technology leaders such as TSMC, UMC, Texas Instruments, Broadcom, Xilinx, and Cray Supercomputer for the implementation of advanced electromagnetic field simulation in their design flows.
* Proposed technical content and managed engineering efforts domestically and internationally for Ansoft worldwide roadshow events. Prepared and delivered keynote presentations at roadshow events charting strategic message and direction to worldwide audience.
* Responsible for strategic content of technical whitepapers for emerging markets including, especially high-speed serial communications and interconnect modeling using Ansoft software.

Altra Broadband, an Ansoft subsidiary (7/2000 – 9/2002)
Technical, strategic, and managerial lead responsible for all research and development activities at Ansoft-funded start-up company. Successfully built and led a team of 18 engineers to develop a 1Gb/s discrete multitone (DMT) transceiver for CATV broadband overlay services and point-to-point wireless applications.
* Conceived company vision, created business plan/presentation, and secured $12M funding commitment from corporate partner Ansoft Corporation. * Negotiated and secured Letter of Intent and Design Specification from Finisar for 10Gb/s electronic equalizer development. Built strategy for electronic equalizers for XFP applications.
* Initiated and led Altra’s participation in XFP small form factor plugable optical module MSA. Guided efforts to produce circuit trace, via structures, and signal integrity design for XFI 10Gb/s serial interface.
* Led business discussions and VC funding efforts.
Director of Marketing, High-frequency Products (7/1994 – 7/2000)
Responsible for all product and technical marketing strategies for Ansoft’s high-frequency software tools including Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). Fostered long-term relationships with key accounts and guided software development group for new product features.
* Responsible for strategies that allowed Ansoft to dislodge incumbent Hewlett-Packard EEsof and ultimately dominate $40M HFSS market. Conceived product features, applications and marketing strategy critical for beating Hewlett-Packard.
* Set agenda and managed technical content for Ansoft Worldwide Roadshow. Presented numerous international lectures on electromagnetics simulation:
* Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Mainland China, Italy, France, Germany, England, etc.
* Wrote numerous trade articles, press releases and managed critical press relations.
* Delivered corporate presentations at Design Automation Conference (DAC), IEEE MTT Symposium, Wireless Symposium, etc.
Hughes Aircraft Company El Segundo, CA 1/1986 – 7/1994
Staff Engineer
Held senior engineering positions in the Engineering Division of Hughes Aircraft Company, Radar Systems Group (now Raytheon). Responsible for hardware development of advanced active phased array radar antennas, associated microwave subsystems, and near-field antenna measurements for array calibration. Contributions in research, design, and development ultimately resulted in a multi-year, multi-billion dollar radar antenna upgrade contract for F-18 fighter aircraft. U.S. DoD Secret and SBI Security Clearance.
* Wrote entire design specification for first active phased array antenna at Hughes.
* Responsible for integration, testing, and calibration of active array hardware.
* Developed near-field antenna measurement methods for active array calibration. Wrote whitepaper and presented “Introduction to near-field antenna measurements” to a cross-functional audience throughout the Hughes Radar Systems Group.
* Initiated use of Ansoft HFSS for phased array aperture/element design using the waveguide simulator method. Presented method to design team and management.
* Designed flared notch radiator diplexer to reduce out-of-band RCS response for flared notch radiator.
* Re-wrote sections of a commercial radar cross-section (RCS) code for low-observable studies of phased arrays beneath complex radomes and on complex airborne platforms.
* Responsible for internal research and development projects involving antennas, FSSs, and microwave components. Directed engineers and technicians.
